A Short Story Starring Me and You, Yo’ Mama and Yo’ Cousin Too

A Tale of Lost Love and Lessons Learned

They say that a four-letter word beginning with L and ending in E is a journey of twists, turns, joy, and heartbreak. For some of us, there is someone from our past who has left an indelible placeholder on our heart. The Wo/Man who slipped through our fingers and away from our lovesick soul, leaving behind cherished memories and valuable life lessons.

The Serendipitous Encounter

In these modern times I would write that every great love story begins with a chance meeting, however with the invent of technology, social media and dating apps, there are exceptions to “a chance meeting.” However, it does not have to change the narrative. The first meetup... “It was a cool early fall evening, the moon casting an auspicious hue over the cityscape. In a crowded restaurant, amidst the hum of conversations and clinking of wine glasses, we lock eyes” - a moment that would alter the course of our lives forever.

A Symphony of Laughter and Shared Dreams

As our connection grew, we discovered a shared passion for life's simple pleasures. From impromptu road trips to evenings spent on the couch drinking milk and listening to a hip-hop tune. Every moment was imbued with laughter and the promise of a future together. We painted a canvas of dreams, intertwining our hopes and aspirations.

The Unavoidable Crossroads

Life, however, has a way of throwing unexpected challenges our way. As fate would have it, our paths diverged, leading us down different roads. Obligations, responsibilities, and the demands of reality threatened to pull us apart, creating an unbridgeable chasm between us.

The Bittersweet Goodbye

Saying goodbye to the Wo/Man who had become our confidante, our muse, and our heart's desire is a heart-wrenching experience. We part ways with tears in our eyes, with the belief that destiny had a plan for us, even if it meant walking separate paths.

Lessons from Love

In the wake of their absence, we lean on friends and family, where ultimately, we find solace in lessons learned from our experience. The importance of seizing the present moment, cherishing the people who touch our lives, and embracing change.

The Echo of a Lost Love

Years may past, but the memory of the Wo/Man that got away remains, a gentle reminder of the transformative power of love.

S/He remains a part of the tapestry of our lives, an echo of a time when our hearts beat in sync.

Those who leave an indelible mark on our hearts, are a reminder that love is not always meant to be captured, but sometimes to be cherished in its fleeting, ethereal beauty.

/End

No, this ain’t about me – I’m a player ‘bout mine, and I don’t love those hose. I’ve always been the one that got away, ask all my exes. I wrote this for y’all ‘cause y’all been going through it.
