Slight Work

The following names have been changed to protect the innocent. Any likeness to you is coincidental. Maybe you have a doppelgänger. A discussion concerning food while at work sparked a spin off conversation while attempting to plan a pot-luck for the team.

Nia Long

“I really like that Chef G Garvin cooking show.”

“Word? Do you have skills? What is your signature dish?”

Nia Long

“No. I don’t cook.”

Blank stare. Blink. Blink.

Nia Long

“What? Boy, you so crazy.”

Y’all know how my mind works. I had to explore the why.

Liking Vs. Doing

I like photography; I keep my camera with me at all times constantly searching for the next EyeTyramueL™ shot. I understand that folks who choose to pursue an interest; photography, naked bungee jumping and mud wrestling often like it. Additionally, I understand that people like things that they do not personally participate in but enjoy seeing folks engaged in and winning.

Life.

Normally we would end there but …

A discussion concerning reality, well un:reality television while at work sparked a spin off conversation about Scandal.

Halle Berry

“Did you see Scandal this week?!?”

“No. I don’t watch Scandal.”

Halle Berry

“Wow! I can’t believe you don’t like the show. Olivia ….”

“Is that hair on your lip?”

Halle Berry

“Rude.”

I quit y’all and your real life conversations about fake television.

Some folks become so defensive of things that they like, especially those absorbed through media more than the things that they actually do. That is not to say you should not or cannot enjoy reality television, I get it its entertaining. I have shows that I watch that I enjoy too. However, keep your reality television & real life separate being entertained is not the same as being engaged; be present and engaged in your own experiences.

& that's it.
